Did you know that planting trees around your home can help you save money? Trees can lower the cooling costs of your home, especially during hot summer months. This happens because trees protect your home from direct sunlight.
When the sun shines directly on your house, the walls and roof become very hot. This heat travels inside and makes your home warm. As a result, your air conditioner has to work harder and use more electricity to keep the house cool. This increases your energy consumption. Moreover, trees cool the air and the surrounding area. They absorb water from the ground and release (let something go) it into the air through their leaves. This process is ‘transpiration’.
It is important to choose the right trees and plant them in the right places. For example, tall trees with wide leaves are the best. You should plant them on the south and west sides of your house because the sun is strongest from those sides. With a little planning, trees can be a smart and natural way to keep your home cool and save money.

۴۶) True. جملهٔ دوم متن می‌گوید: «درختان می‌توانند هزینه‌های خنک کردن خانه را کاهش دهند» (Trees can lower the cooling costs). در جملهٔ سؤال به‌جای lower واژهٔ هم‌معنی decrease (کاهش دادن) آمده، پس درست است.
۴۷) False. بند سوم می‌گوید درختان را در سمت جنوب و غرب خانه بکارید، چون خورشید از آن سمت‌ها قوی‌تر است (south = جنوب، west = غرب). جملهٔ سؤال سمت شمال (north) را گفته، پس نادرست است.
